On Our Doorstep

A whole new world of adventure awaits you!  The 3 peaks are just down the road, climb one of them or all of them, the choice is yours!  If it’s a bit of a steadier walk you’d prefer there are hundreds of footpaths to choose from.  Several bridleways are accessible if you’d prefer to peddle your way around, and we can even provide grass livery for horses if you want to bring your 4-legged friends along!  The start of the famous Settle loop bridleway is a mere stone’s throw away from the barn.  We do allow a maximum of 4 dogs which are allowed in the communal areas only, not in the bedrooms.

Elaine’s tea room at Feizor is a good stop off point for refreshments on two wheels, 2 or even 4 legs!  Lots of outside space, and the cakes are amazing!

The market town of Settle is a gentle stroll along the river, where you will find several fine eateries, cafes, curry house, Tai restaurant, wonderful fish and chips a co-op and Booths supermarket.

The Inn at Helwith Bridge is a nice walk and provides lovely home cooked food (and is graded 5* by The Environmental Agency) at really reasonable prices for huge portions (I couldn’t finish mine).  Closer is The Knights Table who also serve meals, coffee and cakes.

If trains are your thing, jump on at Settle and enjoy the stunning scenery of the famous settle – Carlisle line.

Clapham has its famous underground caves to explore and a lovely children’s park, plus the Old Sawmill café for those well earned refreshments.

Ingleton has a magical waterfall walk, and if you’re feeling brave, an outdoor lido!  If its cycling the kids are into, then the pump track will be right up their street!  Next door is a bakery with a café, (indoor and outdoor tables), which sells amazing produce and delicious ice creams, so why not sit on a park bench with a coffee and a cake while the kids do a few circuits!

The market town of Skipton is a 30 minute drive, again providing lots of eateries, shops and pubs, and a traditional street market operates on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.  Skipton castle is well worth a visit, and for recreation the park has a new, extensive adventure playground.  There is also an indoor swimming pool within the park and even a Tree tops high rope adventure company! (Raven Tree Top Adventure).

Within the pretty village of Austwick you will find the Game Cock Inn.  The chef is French, and the food is fine dining but not too expensive.  A patisserie is also operated from here where fresh produce can be bought daily.  Please note the pub closes on a Monday and Tuesday.  Take away stone baked pizzas can also be purchased on some evenings too.  You will also find a post office and village store and a green living shop and even a small children’s play park.

Malham Cove is a 20 minute drive.  Here you can see where Harry Potter was filmed!  There are also several different walks to be explored too, Janet’s Foss being a very pretty walk, leading to a small but wonderful waterfall and pool near Gordale Scar.  Car park and toilets are located on the outskirts of the village.  Malham also offers plenty of places to eat and drink.
